Community Scouting

Community scouting was initiated in April, 2009 with the aim to provide opportunity to scouts to continue scouting as a life long member. It is a unit formed outside the school system and is open to all. It is formed by a group of youth with common goal and interest in community service and personal growth and voluntarism. It is run by volunteer leaders trained as unit leaders and functions under the supervision and close collaboration of the Bhutan Scouts Association.

The Community Scouting Objectives are:

      1. To provide service for community development
      2. To provide leadership skills to the youth to be responsible and productive
      3. To enhance knowledge and skills in project planning and implementation
      4. To equip the youth with necessary life skills to tackle every day challenges
      5. To inculcate a strong sense of voluntarism and motivate others
      6. To provide opportunity to pursue scouting as a lifelong education

Currently Community Scouting has more than 253 members from various Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations and operates under four field troops.
