Regional Communication Forum

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

 

Workshop Date:                                     

29 September to 02 October 2010
Participants are expected to arrive 28 September and may arrange to leave 03 October 2010.

 

Venue:                                   

Chuniding Resort, Babesa                                              

Thimpu, Bhutan

 

Workshop fees:                     

The registration fee will cover food and accommodation on sharing basis from 28th September lunch to 3rd October breakfast; including local transport, forum materials and education tour. The registration fee is US $ 150/- per participant.

 

However, for those participants who fall within the category of the profile of the participants as described in the regional circular, the world scout bureau will pay their registration fee, not more than 2 participants per NSO and this registration fee will be paid to the host country directly by APR. Any other participant who is accepted for the Forum but not within the profile of the participants as described in the circular will be expected to pay the registration fee by themselves and shall be paid at the time of registration.
                                                                                      
Those participants staying beyond 5 nights (28 September - 2 October) for personal reasons or due to flight availability are expected to bear the costs for accommodation and food. The rate person is US $50-100…/- per day. Arrangements must be made in advance with the host country for this over stay, for either arriving early or leaving later than the specified date.

 

Objectives of the Forum:

  1. Train national leaders responsible for Communications, Public Relations and Marketing in their NSOs
  2. Train the spokespeople of the Movement
  3. Consult with NSOs on the way to adapt the worldwide communication strategy
  4. Implement WOSM’s communication strategy at international level
  5. Create a network among actors of communication in Scouting

 

Programme:                          

The general outline of the Forum programme has been sent to all NSO’s and it is also available in the APR web site.

 

Visa:                                       

The visa fee of US$ 20 per person will have to be paid on arrival at the international airport.

The entry visa must be obtained prior to the entry to Bhutan and even before buying the ticket. Therefore, the details of the passport and passport size photograph with a photocopy of the photopage must reach this office well in advance to process for the Bhutan visa. Those visa applications which are received after 30 August will not be entertained because there is lot of lead time which the Government of Bhutan requires for the processing of the visa and there is a quota for foreign visitors to Bhutan.

 

Weather:                               

The temperatures will range from maximum 23 degrees during the day and minimum 14 degrees during the night. However it may change unexpectedly.

 

Flight schedule:                    

Flights to Paro International Airport are available only from Druk Air from Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, Dhaka and Kolkata but they are not daily flights. For details log on to www.drukair.com.bt 

                                               

Therefore it is strongly advised that early booking is done to avoid any difficulties in getting a seat to Paro.

 

Airport Reception:                

Ensure that itinerary is sent to Bhutan Scout Association, quite ahead of time, with a copy to APR office in Manila.  The Leaders from host organization in uniform will receive you at the airport and transfer directly to the venue. All participants when they arrive at Paro they are expected to wear at least a scout scarf to be recognized. The transport form Paro to the capital Thimpu will take about an hour.

Food:                                      

Vegetarian and non-vegetarian, including halal food will be served.

 

 

What to bring:                      

Scout uniform, warm jackets/sweaters, and personal clothing and toiletry items.
